IVCO 2020 Paper Volunteering for Climate Action: Perspectives from a Survey of Volunteer Involving Organisations
To better understand the current action, gaps, and opportunities for volunteer-involving organisations (VIOs) to tackle climate change, this study reports on the results of a survey of VIOs’ activities and good practice models. Its purpose is to enable VIOs to engage with current thinking about climate action in the volunteer sector, and to guide action to combat climate change.
In this way, the survey findings are a starting point to enable organisations to look beyond their important work with those communities most vulnerable to the impact of climate change. This represents an opportunity to think strategically about how IVCOs focus on the actions they can take to combat the causes and the consequences of climate change, drawing on the unique power of volunteering.
