Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN) was established in 2005 by a diverse group of development workers, educators, social activists, lawyers and other professionals. VIN is a non- religious, non-political, not-for-profit organisation which focuses on community-based projects mobilising local and international volunteers.

VIN emphasises four pillars of development:

  • Education
  • Health and Environment
  • Economy
  • Basic Infrastructure

Based on these four pillars, VIN empowers marginalised communities through six programmes - Children’s Development, Women’s Empowerment, Public Health and Medical Care, Youth Empowerment, Environment Conservation and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).

The involvement of volunteers is a key strategy in delivering these programmes, and VIN mobilises national and international volunteers in development and humanitarian projects. Its projects are highly inclusive -  beneficiaries from the target population are involved in the project implementation process regardless of class, caste, religion, background, gender and disability.
