E-TICK Online Course on Ethical Communication
Comhlámh have launched E-TICK, a new 4-part online course on Ethical Communication. The course can be found at: www.ethicalcommunication.
This course came about thanks to the 50+ returned volunteers and trainers from across Europe (including 15 from Ireland) who piloted it over 3 months (Nov ’19-Jan ’20). Their experiences and insight were invaluable in shaping this course. It was developed by Comhlámh with the help of the E-TICK partners: Društvo Humanitas (Slovenia), Zavod Voluntariat (Slovenia), INEX-SDA (Czech Republic), and FOCSIV (Italy).
E-TICK, an online course in ethical communication, is made up of 4 interactive modules, representing around 8-10 hours of activity in total. The course sets out to support a reflexive approach to the encoding and decoding of everyday messages, to widen and deepen user perspectives on global issues and to strengthen media literacy in general (including digital literacy).
Modules are lively and encouraging in tone and help users to dig into a range of themes from different angles including: Who gets to communicate what? Cultural appreciation or Cultural appropriation? To hell with good intentions? Perspectives on Global Development, Being smart about online content, and the Digital Economy.
The course is free to access, participants can work through the modules in their own time, and a certificate of completion is available at the end.
E-TICK will be of interest to all those with a passion for global justice and social change and a great resource for volunteers as well as youth workers, teachers and trainers in the field of global citizenship education.
