We Need to Talk – Hosting Conversations on Climate Change and Unsustainability IVCO 2022 Think Piece

This piece by Chris O’Connell and Sive Bresnihan of Comhlámh draws on conversations their organisation is having on the idea of ‘ecological sustainability’ as a core organisational value. It looks at ideas of progress and modernity, and the violent, extractive nature of colonialism, and links them to the inequalities at the heart of climate change.

The authors challenge us to confront our implications in these systems of inequality and unsustainability, and whether development, volunteering and partnership serve to counter them or normalise or reproduce them.
