Readiness for school (part 2)
How to psychologically prepare a child for school?
As experience shows, for successful schooling, in addition to the availability of specific knowledge, skills and abilities, a certain level of development of the ability to cognitive activity is necessary, that is, the child must have differentiated perception, be able to compare, generalize objects and phenomena, be able to analyze and synthesize the information received, be able to independently to draw conclusions. Therefore, in preparing for school, much attention should be paid to the development of cognitive interests, intellectual activity. Clear and correct representations of the child about the phenomena of nature and human society will facilitate his mastery of the school curriculum.
It is important that the future student is ready to fulfill his new social role as a schoolboy with a certain range of responsibilities and a new way of life connected with this. This willingness is expressed in the attitude of the child to school, the educational process, student supplies. Forming it, you should introduce the future student to the school, and not only with its appearance, facilities, but mainly with the purpose, objectives, methods of work.
It is necessary to purposefully instill a positive attitude towards school, to talk with children about school supplies, books, future comrades, and a teacher. It is important that the school attracts the child not with external signs of school life, but with its main activity – study. When a child has a desire to learn, to acquire new knowledge, one can hope for success. Otherwise, even a significant supply of skills and knowledge, a high level of intellectual development without a developed sense of duty and responsibility will not allow him to always successfully cope with the school curriculum.
For a future student, to a certain degree, perseverance, the ability to regulate one’s behavior, the ability to carry out a not very attractive task for a long time, the ability to complete the work begun to the end, without throwing halfway is important.
Your child goes to school in September, and the school is a new social environment, these are new rules for the child. Do you want your child to be successful at school? First of all, teach him to comply with new social norms and rules, offer it as a game. In every game familiar to your child, there are rules that he knows well, fulfills and therefore wins. Let the baby learn new norms, rules and achieve victories and success.
The adaptation of children to school in the Association is aimed at strengthening the physical and mental health of the child, as well as at developing creative and intellectual abilities. Our main task is to form a positive attitude in the child towards school and learning activities, develop cognitive processes, and develop communication and joint skills.
In the process of training, speech therapy, psychological and neuropsychological techniques and exercises are used aimed at enhancing the work of the brain, as well as breathing techniques, which will help the child cope with the problems of oral and written speech:
• replacement of letters when reading and writing;
• omissions and permutation of letters;
• merging several words into one;
• difficulties with mastering a foreign language;
• mirror spelling of letters and numbers;
• confusion right and left.
Literate, beautiful, correct speech of the child has a beneficial effect on him:
– physical health
– mental condition,
– building a positive relationship with peers and adults.
What to pay special attention to:
• if your child is left handed or a retrained right handed.
• if your child attended a speech therapy group.
• if the family speaks two or more languages.
• if your child has problems with memory, attention.
